05 May (Sun): Marion, MS, for an overnight. On the road at daybreak, we rolled east on I-10 and northeast on I-59 to stay ahead of the savage storms. On I-10 across Louisiana (still the worst highway in the country) we saw something unique. You know how roadway tire carcasses are known as “alligators”? Well, today as we approached a huge one and thought about the tire it came from we saw it was a real 8’ - 9’ alligator dead on the road after being hit by a vehicle. Suddenly the nickname became reality.
